After many requests we are finally carrying our first Decaf coffee. For those that will try it, we promise it was worth the wait! This is hands down the best Decaf we have ever tasted - mellow but bright with stone fruit and berry flavors, this coffee is not just 'good for a decaf', it is just plain good.
The process of using fermented sugarcane to decaffeinate coffee is considered by many to be one of the best ways to implement the process, but in Colombia it is almost a matter of convenience. Sugarcane grows in abundance here so fermenting a simple molasses to collect what is needed to make Ethyl Acetate is almost as easy as going into your backyard and grabbing a tomato off the vine. The real value of this process is that it preserves the original structure of the bean better than other decaffeination processes. This bean integrity is maintained through the cup and it makes for a wonderful coffee.
As with all of our Direct Trade coffees, the packaging is recyclable and compostable as it is free from any plastic lining.
